Week 1 - May 27-30

3 Accomplishments

1. I drove up to Southern Miss from Tampa in the pouring rain (and didn't hydroplane)!

2. I created this entire website and this first post.

3. I found a few documents on the CWRGM websites that may be helpful for potential topics concerning mining and/or geology.

3 Things Preventing My Best Work

1. The small (1 hour) time change messed me up more than expected. I've been waking up early, and going to bed late. This will likely be fixed in the coming days.

2. Wix kept promoting the use of AI, making website design difficult. I was able to create it still, and I do not expect this to continue to be an issue as I continue to make blog posts.

3. Evening with the tags, the sheer number of letters and options for research is overwhelming. I believe this will be remedied as I learn more about CWRGM next week.

3 Things I Learned This Week

1. I refreshed my understanding of Civil War history and learned more about Mississippi-specific history.

2. I learned more about the CWRGM project, how it was created, and where it will expand in the future.

3. I also learned what we will specifically be working on in the weeks to come, including what types of lectures we will attend. I am particularly excited for the GIS classes.

Next Action Step:

I will utilize the tagging system in the CWRGM project to generate a preliminary research topic/question. I have a few ideas, but I need to see what is feasible. From that point, I can begin to do background research to begin to fully flesh out the needed context.
